Huapango is style of music played throughout Mexico, but primarily in the northern Huasteca region of Veracruz.

Cucurruco Paloma is a very popular, if not the most popular, Mexican Huapango song.  It was written by Tomas Mendez and introduced by Lola Beltran in the film of its namesake. The song is beautiful and is often used when great vocalists playing their own version of “Quien es Mas Macho” want to strut their stuff.

Here are two great versions of this timeless Mexican classic:

Pedro Infante

Infante was as good as they get. Perhaps the most famous actor and singer in the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, his celebrity shined bright. This clip from the film reminds me of how many mariachis there must have been (and how comfortable beds used to be) back in the day.

Luis Miguel

We selected this version because of the crowds healthy case of “Beatle-itis.”  Neither the video nor audio quality are perfect, but his voice is awesome and it is really kind of funny to watch.
